Why electric vehicles are so silent?

Start an EV and you will barely know it’s on. Unless you’re in it, you won’t know it’s on thanks to the fact that EVs don’t have engines. The batteries power the motor which makes it virtually silent.

At higher speeds, the hum is nowhere near what we are used to in regular fuel-powered vehicles. For those who test drive an EV for the first time, not hearing the sound of the engine will seem like a very different driving experience.

We are so accustomed to the sound of the engine that the silence can take some getting used to. But once you get acclimatized to the silence; you’re unlikely to return to the grunt of an engine.

In this noisy world, driving a silent EV will help keep noise pollution in check too.
A little silence makes for a quieter world.

There’s a view that there should be some noise for pedestrians to know that an electric vehicle is approaching; but for now, that debate is still not resolved. For the driver and passengers however it’s their time to enjoy a moment of quiet.

Now to prevent any injuries to pedestrians, Cyclists, or blinds. Government of India making it mandatory for Ev manufacturers to put a Sound alert in Electric vehicles to prevent Accidents. Soon they’ll have to add a Sound alert if the Electric Vehicle crosses 20Kmph.
